Couch Co-Op HQ: Setting Up the Living Room for Four-Player Chaos
Share
Not every gaming session happens at a desk. Couch co-op is back in a big way, and the living room setup deserves the same intentional design as your battlestation — just optimized for four players, snacks, and zero rage about lost controllers.
The Controller Home Base
The number one killer of spontaneous game night: nobody can find controller number three. A multi-controller stand near the TV gives every pad a charging home. When controllers have an assigned parking spot, they actually get put back — mostly.
Media Console Real Estate
Consoles need airflow, so resist the urge to seal everything in a cabinet. Vertical stands save shelf width, and a small organizer keeps game cases, extra cables, and headsets sorted instead of avalanching every time someone grabs a game.
The Coffee Table Meta
Game night runs through the coffee table: drinks, snacks, phones, and party game components all fight for space. Coaster sets and a small caddy prevent the classic controller-in-the-salsa incident. If you host tabletop nights too, a caddy that swaps between dice and drink duty pulls double shifts.
Seating for the Squad
Four-player sessions mean floor seating happens. A couple of cushions staged nearby beats making guests perch on couch arms, and everyone should have sight lines to the screen without the dreaded glare seat.
Lighting the Arena
Bias lighting behind the TV works even better in a living room than at a desk — it cuts eye strain in a dark room and makes movie nights look theatrical. Warm, dim side lighting keeps the snack run navigable without washing out the screen.
